Losar (in Tibetan: ལོ་སར་) also known as Tibetan New Year, is a festive holiday in Tibetan culture and is celebrated in many Tibetan monasteries, homes and dharma centers. The holiday is celebrated on various dates depending on location (Tibet, Bhutan, Nepal, India) tradition. The holiday is a new year’s festival, celebrated on the first day of the lunisolar Tibetan calendar, which corresponds to a date in February or March in the Gregorian calendar.
In this event, you’ll learn how to build a home or temple altar, what foods are usually served and some traditional activities. After learning these things and creating a home altar for the Vicarage, join in for food and fun.
If you are registering for this online, you’ll get all the handouts and resources to do this at home, but we aren’t able to stream the party itself.
