In times of challenge and chaos, a relaxed mind and an open heart are potent resources for increasing the depth and breadth of practice. The resulting clarity, stability, and open-hearted endurance are the basis of skillful action in the world—and of our ability to bring every experience, pleasant and not, to the path of practice.

On this retreat, we’ll practice breath meditation, Tonglen, chanting and qigong to access and strengthen presence and compassion in thought, speech, stillness and movement.

Ser Chö Ösel Ling’s (SCOL) environment is conducive to meditation, study and reflection. The surrounding meadows and forests are brimming with life and beauty in the spring and the night skies are ornamented with stars. The food is simple, sufficient, and nourishing.

SCOL has options for private accommodations, shared rooms, and designated camping spots, all on a first-come-first-booked basis. This facility offers multi-person women’s and men’s bathroom and shower facilities. We support participants in using the facilities that best align with their identity. An individual shower is available if requested, but requires walking several yards to the building.

Lama Lekshe and Senior Teacher George Draffan will collaborate to offer a retreat experience supportive of deep silence, gentle discipline for sustained practice periods, rest, and joyful labor. We’ll draw on traditional Buddhist teachings and methods, as well as song and prayer for guidance and inspiration.

This retreat is appropriate for students at every level. One-on-one interviews on the topic of this retreat’s practices will be available. More information will be sent at the time of registration. ‘Silver Dragons’ (community members over 70) are invited to enjoy the privilege of arriving at the start of the second session of the day, or to leave one hour early at the end of each day.

Options for accommodations include single cabins for one person, double cabins that sleep two, and camping with your own equipment in designated spots.

Please direct any questions about this event to the retreat coordinator at easton@dekeling.community. Space is limited, so early registration is strongly encouraged.
