Riwo Sangchö is a restricted practice at Dekeling. To register for this workshop, you must have attended a previous training at Dekeling, or have the permission of Lama Lekshe.
Riwo Sangchö is a concise and powerful ritual for benefiting both the living and the deceased, and for creating the causes and conditions for progress on the path. In this practice, we make offerings to all beings with whom we have a karmic connection, including both the living and the deceased. Through the practice of making generous offerings—both real and imagined—we satisfy unmet needs of those we have harmed, thereby repairing damaged connections and removing obstacles to our health and well-being. The Riwo Sangchö ritual also reduces our propensity to do intentional and unintentional harm to others for reasons of malicious intent, or simply because in our confusion or ignorance, we do not see or understand them.
In this two-part workshop, we’ll continue our study and practice, deepening our knowledge and understanding of the practice and confidence in doing the practice alone and in groups. By the conclusion of this phase of the training, you should be able to do the practice at home.
The first session is focused on building depth of knowledge about the practice, its history and the particulars of the liturgy. This session will be live-streamed on Zoom and the recording will be made available to those who attend. The second session will not be streamed and is a face-to-face, hands-on event at the Dekeling Vicarage in Portland. (Feel free to bring your own lunch and stay afterwards for a fellowship meal, if you like.)
