Meditation
In our weekly practice sessions, we teach the basics of meditation and the establish the foundation of a strong daily practice. We begin with the practice of calm abiding, gradually increasing stability and clarity. We teach this practice as a beginner’s meditation, but those who continue will find it useful in even the most advanced practices of Tibetan Buddhism.
Study
Study and contemplation are essential adjuncts to meditation practice. We teach traditional practices and explore their use and relevance in modern life. We study root texts translated into English and enrich our learning by reading and discussing contemporary commentaries. We deepen understanding experientially with optional ‘homework’–exercises between classes that bring knowledge and insights to life, strengthening confidence in both the practice and our own potential.
