person at doormat that says, come as you are

Of course you hope to become an awakened and compassionate being–but how?

In twelfth century Tibet, inspired by teachings of Atisha Dipamkara, a tenth-century Indian master–a Kadampa luminary, Chekawa Yeshe Dorje, wrote an astonishingly concise manuscript known as “The Root Text of the Seven Points of Mind Training”. This text outlines powerful instructions for awakening the heart and mind through contemplation, meditation and by carrying life’s circumstances to the path. In Tibetan, this genre of practice is called lojong–literally ‘training the mind’. Lojong is acknowledged as one of Buddhism’s great treasures.

In this on-going, bi-weekly study and practice group, you’ll explore the Seven Points of Mind Training

  • by reading from contemporary commentaries about the practice
  • by listening to a brief teaching from Lama Lekshe
  • and by deepening understanding–one aphorism at a time–by engaging with the instruction through meditation, contemplation and application to the activities of daily life.

The following week, we’ll enrich each other’s growing understanding by sharing in class what we learned and by raising new questions in an inclusive and relaxed discussion.

If you are a practitioner who aspires to develop compassion, resilience and discipline in practice–attending this class will act as a metronome for your practice. Beginner, intermediate and advanced students committed to regular attendance are welcome–no previous experience with lojong is required.

This class is currently full. To request permission to join, email Lekshe@gmail.com
